Since the rollers are still pushing the paper forward but the edge is blocked, the paper has nowhere to go but to buckle – usually upwards or downwards.

Instantly, a second set of rollers positioned just after the buckle point grips this buckled section of paper. As these rollers pull the paper through, they flatten the buckle, creating a crisp fold along the line defined by the buckle plate. This continuous process allows for high-speed operation. Modern buckle paper folders often incorporate sensors to detect misfeeds or jams and digital controls for precise setup, making them reliable and accurate tools for transforming flat sheets into professionally folded documents.
